Lisa Schuetz will join the Mechanical Engineering staff as director of operations on Sept. 3.  Schuetz will work with Peggy Brumfield, Executive Director of Administrative Affairs, to gradually assume Brumfield’s responsibilities before she retires at the end of September.

Schuetz has worked in the UMD system for 12 years, starting as a program management specialist at UMD’s Baltimore campus. A year later, she moved to the College Park campus and has been working there ever since.  Schuetz most recently served as director of administrative services in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.   She enjoys the diverse climate at the university, and is excited to take on new challenges and opportunities in her new position with ME.  “I am also excited to see the wide variety of projects the ME students are working on,” Schuetz said.

She earned master’s degrees in business administration from the University of Maryland University College in 2007 and in counseling from Arizona State University in 1997.  She is also active in campus organizations, having served on the Senate Staff Affairs Committee and the Council of University System Staff.  In addition, Ms. Schuetz is an active member of the National Council of University Research Administrators.
