Dr. Huertas Cerdeira is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maryland. Her research interests lie at the intersection of fluid mechanics, fluid-structure interactions, robotics and optimization. The focus of her group is to develop a fundamental understanding of the interactions between structures of complex mechanical properties and a flow. Current applications include the engineering of bio-inspired propulsion systems for underwater robotics and the development of aeroelastic energy harvesters for autonomous platforms.
