  • ranking
According to the Associated Press, the Washington, D.C., metro area led the nation in job growth in 2010. Local industry strength in information technology, biomedical and government sectors is expected to lead to further job growth in the future.

The region's unemployment rate was the lowest in the nation in December. D.C. topped the list of generators of net jobs, followed by Dallas-Fortworth and Boston.
