Professor Michael Pecht has been named the Editor-in-Chief of a new IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) open access mega journal, IEEE Access.  The journal will launch at the end of the first quarter of 2013 with a special volume of articles by distinguished authors.

IEEE Access is fully open access, with content accessible online free to all and maintained in the IEEE archive.  It will be supported by author publication charges.  IEEE Access builds on the IEEE’s current open access offerings by being the largest and most comprehensive fully open access journal published by IEEE.  It will feature articles from all fields of IEEE interest, and be inclusive in scope and application-focused.  The journal will utilize an expedited peer review process, so that publication decisions are returned to the author two weeks after submission.  In addition, every article published in IEEE Access will have usage and citation data accompanying it to provide a real time view of the article’s impact.
