Restriction: Permission of ENGR-Mechanical Engineering department.

Fundamentals of CAD, using solid modeling packages (Pro/E, SolidWorks, and Autodesk Inventor). Two and three dimensional drawing. Dimensioning and specifications. Introduction of CAD based analysis tools. Students will complete a design project.

Learning Objectives

  • Provide students with a conceptual understanding of the principles of CAD systems.
  • Implementation of CAD principles and its connections to CAD based simulation and analysis tools.
  • Provide proficiency with main software systems: Creo Parametric 3.0, SolidWorks 2016, Autodesk Inventor 2016 and NX 10.0.
  • Enhance the ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability.
  • Ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practices.

Additional Course Information

Credit only granted for ENME 272 or ENME 414. Students entering the Mechanical Engineering program in fall 2012 or later are required to take ENME 272 for their curriculum but may substitute ENME 414 in place of ENME 272 if desired.
