Suzanne Schroer Wins American Nuclear Society’s Local Paper Competition

Second year reliability engineering graduate student Suzanne Schroer won $500 from the American Nuclear Society’s DC chapter paper competition. Schroer was encouraged by her advisor, Dr. Mohammad Modarres to submit a paper which focused on her thesis topic – a classification of events to consider when creating a multi-unit probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) for a nuclear power plant. “Winning the competition was very exciting because it gave me assurance that I was on the right track for my thesis,” Schroer said. “It is also a great honor to be recognized by colleagues.”
