ME Department Holds Open House for Prospective Grad Students

On March 5th, the Department of Mechanical Engineering welcomed 20 potential graduate students to their Graduate Student Open House. The event began with presentations by professors from four of the ME divisions: Design and Reliability of Systems; Mechanics and Materials; Thermal, Fluid, and Energy Sciences; and Electronic Products and Materials. Guided tours of the on-campus laboratories followed, which gave prospective students the chance to discover the diverse research endeavors the program provides. The open house concluded with the opportunity for the prospective students to network with both professors and current graduate students.

The graduate student open house is held annually each spring in order to attract potential students to ME. Amarildo Damata, ME Graduate Studies Coordinator, emphasizes the importance of the open house for the recruitment of graduate students saying, "We have to make sure we show prospective students how competitive the Department of Mechanical Engineering is."
